Pattern weaving is inherently tied to the grid and the structure of the cloth structure is predetermined. I became interested in the woven structure as a social structure to question the ways in which we collaborate and exist in predetermined and systemized spaces.
This work became a performance where the audience was prompted; “Work together to create a model for a space where you will be satisfied with inhabiting it. Please utilize as many of the structures in front of you as possible.” Each person took on the role as an urban planner; where parameters were negotiated and bridges were built.
